Why is Golden Cheetah so slow to compute the data to get the CdA?

In some cases, it takes much time for GC Notio to compute your data or just opening an activity. There are different causes.

1. The length of the activity.
The longer the ride is, the slower the process will be because there are many data. The main issue here is loading the data at the end. Tip for those training in a velodrome. Instead of doing one recording of 4 hours with long pauses between stretch, you might want to record multiple times.

2. Custom metrics.
Some advance users might have created metrics with the tool provided by Golden Cheetah in the options (preferences).

After computing your data, all metrics within GC will be recalculated, including the custom metrics for that ride. The more metrics you created and the more complex they are, the slower the process will be.

There is more.

Loading a ride will also be slower. Sometimes when opening GC, a progress bar is visible at the top of the window below the chart tabs. It indicates that GC is reading each ride. The custom metrics will also slow that process. We suggest removing unused custom metrics.
